War Time - First / Last Light

I have been photographing these works in the very first and last hours of the day, ever since October 7th 2023. The act of photography helps me refine the essence of memory from this horrific time of war. I don’t document the destruction, the loss or the devastation, but I try - through the light of dawn and dusk, to capture a memory of a sensation. I photograph in the space between the living room and the garden, overlooking the valley beneath my house. I try to express the feeling of everything closing in on us, the heavy air, the struggle to breathe.

Through photographing the daily intimacy of family life, the house, garden and the familiar view, I look at the stark dissonance between the war outside and the nature and life that continue, feeling gratitude that they are still here.
