The story of my family's food.
On the work top in my kitchen stands a big, thick cutting board. It stands there permanently and never put away in a cupboard. One evening we forgot a piece of cucumber and half a tomato from our salad supper. In the morning, I found them dried and shriveled. They looked so beautiful in the morning light that I had to take a photograph. When I opened the picture, I saw the cutting board with all its cuts and scratches that told of the hundreds, maybe thousands of dinners that I had prepared for my family on this board.
The photography is not contrived (apart from “Me”) and is always taken in natural light, light from the window and kitchen lighting. The series was filmed in black and white.
